Great Hall of the People
The Great Hall of the People of the Central Government of the People's Republic of China is located on the west side of Tian'anmen Square, Beijing, China, and on the south side of West Chang'an Street. The Great Hall of the People sits west to the east with the north-south length of 336 meters and east-west width of 206 meters, it is 46.5 meters in height. and covers a plot area of 150,000 square meters with a floor area of 171,800 square meters. As the venue for meetings of the National People's Congress and the office of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Great Hall of the People is an important venue for political activities of the Party, the state and people's organizations, as well as a venue for political, diplomatic and cultural activities of the Party, state leaders and the people of China. The Great Hall of the People also hosts the annual sessions of the National People's Congress, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the five-yearly National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
